The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Project/Contracts Manager to join the team. This is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing a range of civil and demolition projects from planning through to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction or civil works sectors and be confident managing project timelines, estimating costs, engaging with clients and stakeholders, and upholding strict health and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of excavation, demolition, and cartage projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, quotes, and project budgets based on scope and site assessments.
- Coordinate resources, equipment, and subcontractors efficiently to meet project requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders through clear and consistent communication.
- Monitor progress, resolve issues, and adjust plans as needed to keep projects on track.
- Lead and enforce a strong health and safety culture on-site, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company standards.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to monitor work quality, safety, and timelines.
- Report on project milestones, financials, and risks to senior management.
- Proven experience in project management within the civil, demolition, or earthworks industry.
- Strong estimating skills with the ability to develop accurate and competitive costings.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Solid understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and practices.
- Practical knowledge of excavation, demolition, and cartage operations.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) an advantage.
- Current full driver’s licence required.
- Health & Safety certifications (e.g., Site Safe, First Aid) desirable.
