This isn’t a stand-alone traffic role, you’ll be embedded within established civil teams, working alongside drainage, roading, and earthworks crews to ensure traffic management is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
About the Role
You’ll take full ownership of Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) across active civil sites, including road reconstruction, subdivisions, drainage works, and wider infrastructure upgrades.
This is a hands-on, site-based position where you’ll be actively involved with the crew, not just setting out cones.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver STMS duties across multiple civil projects
- Implement and oversee approved TMPs
- Coordinate closely with Site Managers, Foremen, and Engineers
- Lead toolbox talks and daily traffic briefings
- Ensure full compliance with CoPTTM / NZTA standards
- Complete site audits, reports, and documentation
- Support crews on the ground where required
- Current Practising STMS Licence (Level 1,CAT A/B - required, Level 2/3 , CAT C - highly regarded)
- Proven experience working on civil construction sites
- Confidence working alongside drainage, roading, and earthworks teams
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Full Class 1 licence (Class 2 advantageous)
- Reliable, proactive, and safety-focused
- $30 – $35 per hour + 8% holiday pay (depending on experience and licence level)
