Stellar Recruitment are partnering with a State Government Client to recruit an experienced Principal WHS and Rail Safety Advisor for the $1 billion Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade Project. This is a pivotal role where you’ll provide visible safety leadership both in the field and at the governance level, reporting directly to the B2N Delivery Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead by example: Provide on-site safety leadership through walks, inspections, and active engagement with contractors, supervisors, and workers.
• Drive compliance: Implement WHS and Rail Safety processes across site operations, ensuring they are lived daily and embedded in project delivery.
• Contractor assurance: Oversee contractor safety systems, verifying safe work practices are in place and adhered to.
• Incident response: Support investigations, lead corrective actions, and drive a culture of proactive risk management.
• Risk & assurance: Facilitate risk assessments, conduct audits and inspections, and provide assurance reporting for leadership forums.
• Continuous improvement: Champion lessons learned, promote best practice, and support the evolution of safety culture across RIDO.

• Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety, Business, or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, Rail Safety National Law, Codes of Practice, and AS/ISO standards.
• Demonstrated WHS management system experience with practical field application.
• Background in large-scale rail (preferred) or major infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to influence at all levels – from frontline crews to executive leadership.
• Excellent communication skills and digital reporting capability.

• Contribute to one of Queensland’s most significant rail infrastructure projects ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
• Work in a hands-on, highly visible role where you’ll shape safety outcomes both on-site and at governance level.
• Initial 6-month contract with a strong possibility of extension.
• Base yourself at the Beerburrum Site Office adjacent to the train station, with direct involvement in high-profile delivery.
